ellaOne is a ‘Morning After Pill’ containing 30mg of the active ingredient ulipristal.

Ulipristal works by binding to where progesterone would attach in your ovaries, delaying the release of the egg from the ovary (ovulation) so that sperm cannot reach it. It also decreases the thickness around your uterus to further aid this process.

You can take one of these pills as soon as possible or within 5 days (120 hours maximum) after unprotected sex, or if you did not take your contraceptive pill as recommended.

The sooner you take it, the more effective it is.
